monkey business kid's boutique

Karen and Shannon met one another in their pre-natal class in 2005 in Maple Ridge. While both experiencing the joys of their first pregnancies, they connected immediately, became fast friends, and found it awesome to share the amazing journey of motherhood and everything that goes with it. Soon after the birth of their children, both Karen and Shannon felt frustrated by the lack of kid friendly and kid focused stores in the Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Mission area, and felt that these growing communities deserved better. In 2006 they decided to do something about it, and after almost a year of planning and learning together, so became Monkey Business Kids Boutique and a new chapter in their lives.

Karen Pukesh, co-owner of Monkey Business Kids Boutique

Karen brings a wealth of professional retail experience to Monkey Business Kids Boutique. Karen worked for over fifteen years with one of Canada’s largest fashion and accessory retailers in a management role, and along the way Karen honed her amazing customer service skills and a keen sense of fashion and style. Prior to Monkey Business, Karen’s job took her to the hottest fashion markets in Canada- Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver-and helped her develop a refined sense of style, the importance of value for your dollar, and an eye for presentation and displays. Karen guarantees your first visit and impressions of Monkey Business Kids Boutique will be memorable. Service, selection, style, and value are all part of Karen’s commitment to serving her customers! Karen is also a new mom herself, and can relate to the joys (and challenges!) of being a busy new mom who has to juggle her family and work commitments. Karen and her family have lived in Maple Ridge for over ten years, and she is proud to be an active part of the business community in the area. You can contact Karen directly via email at

Shannon Gander, co-owner of Monkey Business Kids Boutique

Shannon brings to Monkey Business Kids Boutique a background in planning, budgeting and project management acquired during her eight year career with the Federal Government of Canada. Being a mother herself, her key motivation behind realizing Monkey Business was recognizing the need to bring fun, stylish and quality clothing and accessories for children to Maple Ridge and the surrounding area. Being able to work so close to home was also a motivating factor, as was working for herself to allow for flexibility in her time to maximize time spent with her family. Shannon has lived in the Maple Ridge community for over five years, and is looking forward to being part of the business community here. As a mother of two, Shannon is extremely excited to be working with Karen fill the niche of quality goods for children currently not available in the area.
